what to expect

TONE

You can expect a therapist who is compassionate, tactful, and direct. During our time together, I will be present and speak to whatever is happening in the moment. Together we will normalize discomfort in the name of growth. As a therapist, it’s my job to assess my clients’ needs. If you come in needing support and a safe container, I will create that for you. I will also challenge you with compassion when it is time to do the work of changing default thoughts and behaviors.

BELIEFS

It’s my job as a therapist to hold onto hope when my client cannot. I believe that there is hope for every single person. There is something good about you. So often we define ourselves by one circumstance, one action. That one thing does not define who you are. It is your right as a human to be complicated and multi-faceted. I believe that doing something you aren’t proud of does not make you a bad person, just as much as I believe doing something incredible doesn’t absolve you of responsibility for the rest of your actions. I believe we all get to change.

MODALITIES

I am trained in somatic holistic psychology and clinical psychology. While my approach is informed by somatics, I incorporate multiple modalities based on your personal needs. Clients can expect a blend of narrative therapy, Internal Family Systems, dream work, principles of depth (what things in our life symbolize on a more meaningful scale, especially repetitive behaviors), Jungian symbolism, sex therapy, and emotionally focused therapy. I work with theories that support each other, integrating them into your overall healing.

COVID SAFETY

In-person and telehealth options are available depending on local, state, and federal guidelines regarding COVID safety. I adhere to local precedent in my office.
